Adline Joyce Kinney, 88 of Rapid City gained her wings Friday, October 11, 2024, while taking her final breaths with family.

Adline Honeymann was born March 20, 1936 in Gopher, SD (near Glad Valley) on the family farm to Arthur and Amelia (Kern) Honeymann. She began her life on the family farm approximately 21 miles NW of Isabel, SD. She attended the Kern School. As a child her father Arthur would take her to school in a horse and carriage buggy until she was able to ride her horse to school. She graduated in 1958, via a GED, while she remained working on the family farm until she met James Van Dusen Sr.  They were married May 6, 1959 in Baker MT. They lived in Elgin, ND until they settled in Timber Lake SD in 1960. In 1974 she lost her beloved husband, James, to cancer.

In 1964, she began work at the Timber Lake Post Office then with the Timber Lake school system until 1980. In 1981, she married Jesse Kinney of McIntosh SD. They resided at Hump Creek Ranch located 5 miles SW of McIntosh. They united their efforts as ranchers until 1997 when they retired to Spearfish SD. She was very active as a church member of United Church of Christ, Spearfish and liked by all. In 2012, she lost, Jesse, her prince charming.

Adline enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, fishing, quilting, playing and the harmonica, dancing and ranch life. She enjoyed spending time with her 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Adline may no longer be with us but will always be in our hearts, Vanette Van Dusen of Cape Coral FL and James Van Dusen Jr. of McLaughlin SD. Two siblings Lawrence (Larry) Honeymann of Hettinger ND and Arthur Honeymann Jr of Harrison AR.

Adline is preceded in death by her father Arthur Honeymann Sr; mother Amelia (Kern) Honeymann; brothers Elmer and Gordon Honeymann; sister Mabel (Honeymann) Tichi; Steven Honeymann; and infant daughter of Lawrence & Mina Honeymann.
