Obituary

RAPID CITY - Adrian M. 'Ding' Kringen, 84, of Rapid City, passed away at Clarkson-Mountain View Guest Home on Thursday, April 10, 2008. Adrian was born on September 30, 1923, in Madison, to Pete and Mary (Olson) Kringen. He grew up in rural Colman and graduated from Colman High School. Adrian was united in marriage to Rita Jean Webber on March 18, 1947, in Madison. The family lived in several communities in Eastern South Dakota, including Colman, Chester, Vermillion and Huron, where Ding managed the local elevators/feed mills. In 1979, they moved to Rapid City, where he sold automobiles and boats for local businesses. Ding loved to hunt waterfowl and fish and shared these interests with his family whenever possible. He also played the accordion with dance bands as a young man and loved to dance with his wife, Jean. His children feel blessed to have Adrian as a father. Survivors include his son Ron Kringen and his wife, Darlene, of Rapid City, their children, Erik Kringen and his wife, April and their daughter, Gracie and Nathan Byerly; his son Bob Kringen and his wife, Kim, of Rapid City, and their children, Aubrey Kringen and Adrianne Everson; and his daughter, Kay Logterman and her husband, Mark, of Jacksonville, OR, and their children, Erin and Brooke Logterman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rita Kringen in 1997 and a brother, Leo Kringen. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hays officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. Following the burial, a lunch will be served at the VFW Post 1273, 420 Main Street, in Rapid City.
