RAPID CITY--Aileen Kinder, 68, died peacefully in her home Sunday, March 1st, surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1940 at her familys farm house near Leola, SD. She grew up, the oldest child of seven. The family farmed near Leola and Aileen attended a one room school house through the 8th grade. Then, she attended 2 years at Leola High School. In 1956 Aileen moved to Aberdeen where she met and married William (Bill) Kinder. They were married October 1, 1959. Bill and Aileen lived in Jamestown, ND and Grand Forks, ND as Bill completed college. Their first 2 kids were born in ND. In 1965 Bill and Aileen settled in Rapid City. Here, their 4 other children were born. Aileen made her mark in Rapid City helping Bill start up and run a CPA practice. She also donated countless hours to the Rapid City Youth Soccer League, the school system and the Girl Scouts and was the Director of the summer camp at Paha Sapa. From 2002-2009 Aileen lived part time in Mitchell and part time in Rapid City. She always joked she had dual-citizenship. In Mitchell, she ran a restaurant with her son and was a member of Starlight Chapter 41 of the Eastern Star. Aileen loved her family and grandchildren and always could be found surrounded by them. She was an avid reader, loved quilting and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her six children: Michael Kinder, Rapid City, Melissa Price, Las Vegas, NV, Megan Kinder, Rapid City, and William J. Kinder, Jr., Mitchell, Nicolette Kinder-Butler, Rapid City and Christopher Kinder, Rapid City. She was also loved by seven grandchildren: Cammien Kinder, Ozzy Holsworth, Piper Butler all of Rapid City, SD, Gillian and Grace Kinder of Mitchell, SD and Reilly and Tyler Price of Las Vegas, NV. She has 2 brothers, Kenneth Sperle, Helena, MT and Robert Sperle, Billings, MT and 4 sisters, Pearl Geffre, Rapid City, Barbara Lapka, Mitchell, Patty Tschappat, Warner and Delight Schaefer, Oaks, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996 and her parents. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at First United Methodist Church in Rapid City with Rev. Joel Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Shriners Childrens Hospital Sneaker Fund to support burn research.
