Al D. Traversie 65 of Rapid City passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Friday, May 31, 2024 at St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, with Rev. Fr. Ed Witt as celebrant. Inurnment will follow a luncheon at Mtn View Cemetery in Rapid.

Al was born in Gettysburg, SD February 15, 1958.  He attended and graduated from Cheyenne River High School.  After graduation he took a road trip to Colorado and never looked back.  To follow in his dad's footsteps as a mechanic he entered the Denver Institute of Technology Mechanical School.  He received his diploma in September of 1977.

He then came back to Rapid City and worked for Sears and Roebuck for 30 years as a mechanic.  After Sears closed, he began working for the Department of Transportation where he was the Supervisor over the warehouse for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife; Robin of Rapid City, son; Ashley (Julia John) of Rosevelt, UT, daughter; Autumn of Rapid City, 4 grandchildren; Mila Traversie, Aliah Martin, Alonius Littlejohn, Tiny Littlejohn, sisters; Gail (Daniel) Martin of Mina, SD, Dana (Conrad) Schlect of Eagle Butte.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter; Maria, parents; Delmas and Elvira (Gilbert Traversie), brothers; Kim Traversie, Delmas "Cactus" Traversie, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
