RAPID CITY | Albert F. Lehmann, 82, died Nov. 16, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born on July 27, 1935, in Mission, SD to Fred A. and Dora (Grimm) Lehmann. Al grew up in Mission graduating High School in 1954.
Al was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1961.
He married Esther L Bechtold in Valentine on July 31, 1962, and made their home in Mission.
Al worked for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Mission Volunteer Fire Department for many years, serving as Chief for a number of those years.
He and Esther moved to Rapid City in 1982, where he continued working as a clerk at the Rapid City main post office until retiring in 2000 after 41 years.
Al enjoyed spending time with his family, where his children learned and laughed with him as they played a variety of card games. He could always be found at his grandchildren's events. He was their biggest fan.
He is survived by his children; Rob Lehmann, Rick (Michele) Lehmann, Linda Hodgin and Debra Points At Him all of Rapid City, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, two brothers and two sisters and his son-in-law, Clayton Points At Him.
Friends are invited to contribute to the Wildland Firefighters Foundation in his name.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 20, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery with military honors.
