RAPID CITYAlbert Al Wright, 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Hospice of the Hills. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Harriet L. (Marty) Wright, Rapid City; two daughters, Peggy (Steve) Bruns, Longmont, Colo., and Linda (Dennis) Edwards, Mt. Zion, Ill.; one grandson, Travis (Goldie) Edwards, Decatur, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Trevor Edwards, Decatur, Ill.; one brother, Larry (Deanna), Robbins, Tenn.; four sisters, Zola Turner, Shirley, Ind., Catherine Lackey, Jamestown, Tenn., Jeanie Jeffers, Robbins, Tenn., and Debbie (Jack) Tompkins, Allardt, Tenn., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter and son, two sisters, and one brother. Albert was born October 22, 1928 in Twinton, Tennessee to Albert and Ida (Sells) Wright. While stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, he met Harriet Marty in Rapid City, and they were married February 17, 1956. He retired in 1991 after a long career with the Rapid City Post Office. Al loved country music, fishing in the Black Hills, and having fun with his family and friends. A funeral service (followed by lunch) will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Rapid City, with the Rev. Kathy Monson Lutes officiating. Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota National Guard.
