Alexander Eugene Asbridge, 59, of Edgemont died in peace Sunday Feb. 24, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born March 17, 1948 in Bismarck, ND to Alexander and Gloria Asbridge. As a young boy he lived with his family on the farm south of Bismarck. He attended elementary school in a one room school house one mile from his home. Later his family moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he graduated from Palmer High School in 1966. During his years in high school Alex enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in a band. He also gained an appreciation for model railroading and model design and construction. After graduation from high school he served his country as a Seaman in the US Navy. On Sept. 15, 1984 He married Roberta Damron in Custer, SD, where they lived and worked for a number of years before moving to Edgemont, SD. Alex along with a true friend and partner formed and operated a Railroad Reloading Center in Edgemont and ended his working career as an Engineer for the BNSF System. Alex always enjoyed being around his family and friends. His hobbies included photography, model railroading and yacht sailing. His strong Christian Faith guided him through his long battle with Cancer and with his last breathe accepted his Lord and Savors invitation to his Eternal Home. Survivors include his wife, Roberta, Edgemont, SD.; one daughter, Tina King, Edgemont, SD.; two brothers, David Asbridge, Rapid City, SD., and Cole Tate, San Rafael, CA.; two sisters, Dana Asbridge, Parker, CO, and Claudia York, Greensboro Bend, VT.; two grandsons, Joshua King, Edgemont, SD, and Jacob Shelley, Edgemont, SD.; 16 nieces & nephews and their extended family members.
