Alfred J. Grenstiner 86 of Black Hawk passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Al was born June 30, 1937 to Anton and Helen (Vetsch) Grenstiner at Pollock, SD the 7th of 8 children. His father passed away in 1947 and in 1948 the family moved to Baker, MT where he finished school and graduated from Baker High School in 1957.
Al worked in the oil field until 1960 when he was drafted into the US Army and he served in the 82nd Airborne Division and was discharged in 1962. He returned to Baker and the oil fields. In 1966 he went to Fargo, ND to attend Molar Barber College where he met his wife, Jackie. They were married September 17, 1966 and to this union five sons were born. The family settled in Baker, MT in 1968 until 1981 when they moved to Rapid City, SD where Al attended Black Hills Beauty School. He had his own shop in Black Hawk, SD. He retired in 2002 and remained active with church, community and Hospice. A very huge part of his life was his family-he so loved his grandchildren.
Al is survived by his wife Jackie, sons Ty (friend Deanna) of Wasta, SD, Travis (Moni) of Wasta, SD, Troy (Lori) of Las Vegas NV, 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter, sister Rose Crawford.
Al was preceded in death by sons Denis & Tony, parents, sisters Irene O'Neil, Margaret Crawford, Janet Crawford, brothers Roy, Art, and Ken.
