Obituary

Alfred Francis Livermont Jr. passed away after a short illness on December 25, 2025 at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home in Hot Springs. Alfred was born on December 21, 1946, in Rapid City, SD, to A. Francis and E. Evelyn (Steele) Livermont, the oldest of five boys. Al attended grade school at Wanblee Public School and graduated from Interior High School in 1964.

Al attended Northern State College at Aberdeen. He enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served in Germany and then as a Combat Medic in Vietnam. When he finished his tour, he returned to the family ranch and worked with his dad and later his brother, Galen. He hollered at many a cow while rounding up; you always knew where Alfred was.

Al drove an over-the-road truck and travelled all over the United States for numerous years. He knew every road in the country and could tell you what was along the route. He retired from trucking and returned to ranching for a while.

Al retired from ranching and moved to Interior for several years. When his health declined, he lived with his brother Galen and wife Linda in Rapid City before moving to the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home in Hot Springs where he lived until his death. Al enjoyed his fellow residents and was active in activities, and discovered religion while attending the chapel. He will be greatly missed.

Alfred was preceded in death by his mom and dad, nephew Kevin (Ronald), niece Charlotte (Galen), nephew Eli (Ronald), great-nephew Reese (Art), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Alfred is survived by brothers Ronald (Lana) Ellensburg, WA.; Galen (Linda) Rapid City; Glen (Brenda) Pipestone, MN.; and Blaine (Shirly), Hartford, SD; nieces and nephews Alix (Rob) Anderson, Shoreline, WA.; Art, Anchorage, Alaska; Sandra (Cole), Rapid City; Ryan (Brittany), Brewster, MN., Craig, Pipestone, MN.; Kristina (Matt), Arkansas; Melissa (Alex), Phoenix, AZ,; Andy (April), Pierre, SD,; numerous great nieces and nephews and special friend Shonna Hunter of Kyle, SD and her children; Severt (Yamni) Young Bear III, Tawnishay, Skyler, Shawnee White, Sheenah White and her grandchildren.
