Alice L. Cole 78 of Rapid City passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, at Sturgis Monument Health.
Visitation will be 4:00-5:00pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with a Christian Wake service to start at 5pm. A Christian Funeral Mass will be 10:00am MST Monday, November 8, 2021, at St. Therese Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be 3:45pm CST at Holy Angels Cemetery in Presho. Alice was born March 22, 1943, in Imperial, NE to Corwin and Nellie (Hauschel) Comp. She married Larry G. Cole on October 14, 1961, at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho, SD.
In the early years of marriage, they farmed in Presho, SD and then in Kennebec. They then moved around a bit living in various places in South Dakota. Before landing in Rapid City and setting their roots. Throughout these years Alice was busy raising her children and always adapted and become involved in the community.
When they settled in Rapid City, she ran an in-home daycare and then worked for Youth and Family Services as a teacher's aide. She was a mother to every child that she worked with and showed compassion and patience with everyone she met. Working with children was her passion, she advocated for every child she met and loved them all dearly. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and reading and any time spent with her family. Alice and Larry's favorite past time was taking long car rides and occasionally being adventurous and going off grid. Most recently celebrating 60 years of marriage with Larry and her family in Sturgis, SD.
Alice is survived by her husband Larry of Rapid City, sons; Jim Cole of Presho, David (Tammy) Cole of Presho, Mike Cole of Sturgis, daughters; Judy (David) Blair of Rapid City, Crystal (Brett) Eaton of Vale, SD, daughter in law Donna Cole, brothers; Curtis (Tami) Comp of Winner, SD, Allen (Kelley) comp of Rapid City, Art Comp of Presho, sister; Connie Comp of Presho, sisters-in-law; Susan Comp of Murdo, Cherry Comp of Presho, 9 grandchildren Jessica, Kimberly, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Dusty, Mandy, Joe, Kallie and honorary grandchild Cory Comp and 12 great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Bill and Wayne Comp.
