ALICE MARIE SCHUMACHER
RAPID CITY – Alice Marie (Jochim) Schumacher, 71, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2016, with her loving family by her side. Alice was born on March 5, 1945, to Damion and Mary Ann (Feist) Jochim in Strasburg, ND where she lived until the age of 7 when the family relocated to Rapid City. She graduated from Rapid City High School. Alice met Dale Schumacher, the soul mate God intended for her, and they were married on June 15, 1963, in Strasburg, ND. To this union were born 3 daughters; Renee (Jeff) Pansch, Lenora (Rick) Volk and Doris (Mark) Hutcheson. Along with being a wife and mother, Alice worked at Black Hills Packing (Rushmore Meats), and retired after working at multiple Black Hills Gold jewelry companies. Alice's passion was to provide warmth and comfort with her love of quilting to her friends, family and her church. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing, crafting and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. She was involved in many religious and community activities, some of which included square-dancing and Rushmore German Club.
Alice is survived by her husband, Dale; their 3 daughters and their husbands; 6 grandchildren: Christy (Volk) Furtado, Alicia (Volk) Thorson, Michael Volk, Travis Volk, Miranda Hutcheson and Garrett Hutcheson; 4 great-grandchildren; Alexis VandeMore, Joseph Furtado, Caden and Cameron Thorson, and her brother and sister-in-law; Alvin (Alice) Jochim of Bismarck, ND.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Damion and Mary Ann Jochim and sister, Lillian Marie Jochim.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on May 15, 2016, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Christian Wake Services and Rosary Recitation at 7:00pm.
Funeral services will be at 10:00am on May 16, 2016, at Saint Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church with Fr Bill Zandri and Fr Dan Juelfs con celebrating.
Internment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, SD following the church services.
A memorial has been established by the family.
