Obituary

RAPID CITY- Amy Arlene Miner (McDermand), 71, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice of the Hills.

She was born to the late Monty and Myrtle McDermand on September 8, 1945, in Laramie, WY and graduated from Newell High School in 1963. She then attended the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD and went on to raise three daughters with her former husband Bert Miner of Hermosa, SD.

Amy is survived by her daughters: Tracey Miner, of Plymouth, MA; Tami (Miner) and her husband Bobby Floodine of St. Petersburg, FL; and Dr. Teri Miner and her husband Dr. Chris Cox of Kingston, MA.

Her last 30 years were spent with her partner in life, Carl Griffith and together they enjoyed each other's company and their many friends throughout the Western South Dakota area.

She is not only survived by her biological daughters and Carl, but her spiritual daughters, Dee Griffis, Cathy Jo Griffith, and Carlene Griffith. Additionally, she was desperately loved by her eight grandchildren, one great grandchild as well as her many nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.

Family and friends are encouraged to pay their respects from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. on, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home. Amy's family and friends will have a celebration of life this summer in Fairburn, SD. Details will be released at a further date. In lieu of flowers, Amy would have loved you to support the Fairburn United Methodist Church at 158 Linn Street, Fairburn, SD 57738.
