Obituary

RAPID CITY- Angela M. Kramer, 50, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Angie was born on August 14, 1962 in Mobridge, to James and Elizabeth (Schott) Kramer. She was a talented athlete and loved many sports including basketball, golf, and softball. Softball however was her favorite sport where she played 2nd base and her sister Jackie played left field. During her senior year, her high school team won the regional and sectional tournaments where they advanced to the state championship. During her college years, she continued to play softball in a women's league in downtown Chicago. Angie was the quarterback on an all-girls flag football team. She played golf into her adult years and her father recalls the last time they played together that "she beat the pants off him!" Angie was very smart and ambitious. She was an RN until she suffered back problems that left her unable to continue as a nurse. She started working for a private HMO company and went to night school in the meantime. She received her bachelor's degree in business and finance. Angie was accepted into law school but was unable to finish due to an illness. During her time at the HMO Company, she was promoted to the Human Resources Manager and was part of the administrative staff. Because of her experience in nursing and law school, she understood the HMO contracts front to back. She was an asset to the company because she was able to give presentations to physicians and health executives to get them to join the private HMO. Angie enjoyed cooking. She especially liked watching the Food Network channel and she'd try the recipes out on her mom and dad. Every morning she would have a grocery list for her dad to pick up for the next meal. Five years ago she was unable to work due to her Bipolar disorder and moved to Rapid City to live with her parents. She helped her aging parents while she lived here and was a big help to her mother who suffers from debilitating illnesses. She enjoyed watching daytime TV with them every morning. She will be remembered for her good heart and her love of family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Survivors include her parents, James and Elizabeth Kramer, Rapid City; sister, Jackie (Matthew) Gage, Bristol, VA; and brother, Matthew (Lisa) Kramer, Atlanta, GA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, at Blessed Sacrament Church with a Christian Wake Service with rosary following at 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, at the church with Rev. Timothy Castor presiding.
