Obituary

RAPID CITY | Anita L. Miller, 60, Rapid City, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at her home. She was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Rapid City to Vincent and Catherine (Kilmurry) Allard. She graduated from Central High School in 1972. After graduating from beauty college, she decided to follow her true calling as a teacher. She attended South Dakota School of Mines, Chadron State College, and Black Hills State College, eventually earning a Master's Degree. Anita began her career at Saint Elizabeth Seton, eventually moving to West Middle School and subsequently Southwest Middle School, where she spent a majority of her teaching career. As a teacher she believed that education was of the utmost importance. When Anita was at home the teaching didn't end. She instilled strong morals and a sense of integrity in her children. Her family will always treasure and remember her as a caring mother and the "rock" of the family because of her steadfast strength and patient nature. Anita is survived by her husband, Ron, Rapid City; her Mother, Catherine Allard, Colorado Springs, CO; her sons Brett (Pam) Miller, Alliance, NE and Clint Miller, Rapid City; her daughters Corrie (Victor) Toscana, and Amanda (Joe) Zach, all of Gillette, WY; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Steve Allard (Nancy), Pierre; two sisters Patty Van Horn (Ray), Colorado Springs, CO, and Carol Trainer (Gary), Hartsel, CO. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary Recitation at 7 p.m. Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at St. Therese, The Little Flower Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Zandri presiding. It was her wish to donate her body to the USD School of Medicine following the services. A memorial has been established to the John T. Vucurevich Cancer Center in Rapid City.
