Obituary

Rapid City Anna Ann Artz, 80, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Anna Roth was born June 18, 1931 at Roscoe, South Dakota to John Michael and Leontina Alice [Ehnes] Roth and this is where she grew to adulthood and attended school. She married Edwin Gerard Artz on June 22, 1953 at Aberdeen, SD. Ed was employed with the Soil Conservation Service and they lived in Aberdeen, Ipswich, Burke, Lake Andes and Rapid City. Ann was primarily a homemaker, however she held various jobs. Ann enjoyed gardening and canning and her specialties included pickles, beet jelly and horseradish. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City. Survivors include two sons: Wayne Artz of Black Hawk, SD and Brian [Sue] Artz of Bismarck, ND; three daughters: Karen [Stub] Dufek of Sturgis, SD, Sharon [Burdette] Braun of Beaver Creek, MN and Stacy [Scott] Deaver of Brentwook, CA; 11 grandchildren; Joni, Jeff, Dustin, Seth, Josh, Jessica, Jason, Samuel, Jordan, Eric, and Weston; and 4 great-grandchildren: Landri, Jacey, Isla, and EmmyLee; two brothers: Henry [Cis] Roth of Victorville, CA and John [Bernie]Roth of Banning, CA; and two sisters: Florence [Arlo] Layton of Aberdeen, SD and Alice Rempher of Spring Park, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Leontina Alice Roth, husband: Edwin G. Artz, one grandson: Mathew Artz; one brother: Roy Roth and one sister: Irene Aipperspach. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard with a Rosary Wake Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 17 at 2:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard, with Rev. Father Brian Lane officiatingBurial to follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Rapid City. A memorial will be established.
