Anna Opp passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was 93 years of age and had been living at Clarkson Health Care for the past three years. Anna was born on April 2, 1921, to Jakob and Katharina (nee Kaul) Kirschman of Ashley, North Dakota. She grew up in the home of John and Eva Bender of Leola, South Dakota, who served as her foster parents starting at age 4, following the death of her mother, Katharina. At age 18 she was united in marriage with Arthur Opp. They operated a farm near Long Lake, South Dakota for more than 30 years until Arthur's death in 1970. She then relocated to Rapid City and lived in her West Flormann home until 2011 before moving to Clarkson. She is survived by their three children, Roger, of Rapid City; Darlane (Hoffman), of Odessa, Florida and Calvin, of Wichita, Kansas. She had six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Johnny, Jake, Herb and Irvin and sisters, Rose (Koppang) and Lydia (Nies). Survivors also include sisters-in-law, Claudia (Irvin) and Vera (Herb). Visitation will be from 10 until 11 am on Monday, Dec. 15, at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley, North Dakota. Graveside Services will be at 11 am on Monday, Dec. 15, at the Ashley City Cemetery with the Rev. Christopher McLaughlin officiating.
