Annette Marie Swaby, 77, of Rapid City, SD died Thursday, April 30,2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House, following a lengthy illness. Annette was born March 22,1932 to Stephen and Josephine Federicci in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Sacred Heart School in Memphis, graduating in the class of 1950. She was a homemaker and mother. For years, Annette owned and operated Swaby's Valley Ceramics in Rapid Valley. She was an excellent ceramist, winning many awards through the years. She was an avid bridge player and loved hosting parties for friends. On January 7, 1952, Annette married John Swaby in Memphis, Tennessee while John was a member of the US Navy. A career in the US Air Force followed after which they retired to Rapid City. Annette and John celebrated their 57th anniversary this year. Annette is survived by her husband John of Rapid City, children John Swaby, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, Jim Swaby of Whitewood, SD, Jo Ann Keller and her husband, Corey, of Rapid City, and Jean Berg and her husband Tom,of Lombard, IL. Annette is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jay Swaby and his wife, Christi, Jennifer Swaby, Michelle and Steven Keller, Alex, James and Scott Berg. Annette was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Stephen Federicci, Jr. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 3 , 2009 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the Rosary said at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered, 10:00 AM, Monday, May 4 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City with Father Michel Mulloy presiding. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Humane Society of the Black Hills and the Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House.
