Rapid City – ARLENE J. MCGUIGAN of Rapid City ascended to Heaven on May 28th, 2024. She was the cherished wife of Dr. Patrick McGuigan for 67 years and the devoted and loving mother of Patrick McGuigan and his wife Sue, Michael McGuigan, Annette O'Neill and her late husband Steve and Timothea Doering and her husband Barry.

Arlene was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Kedroski, born 23 March 1935 in Chicago, and was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Larus.  Affectionately known as Nana Lee, Arlene adored her grandchildren—Lyndsey, Andrew, Chance, Justin, Jared, Patrick, Chad and Ella—as well as her great-grandchildren, Bryn, Bodhe, Arlo, Colsynn, Owynn, Meadow, Dalia, and Darcy who brought immeasurable joy into her life.

A graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, Arlene excelled academically, but her greatest achievement was raising four adopted children with her husband, Patrick. Arlene masterfully managed the household and all the chaos that came with it while Patrick served in the Navy, including a year in Vietnam. As Patrick later built a successful surgical practice, Arlene was the unwavering strength behind the family, always there for her husband and children. She guided them through multiple moves across the country, ensuring that life was filled with love and stability. Without her, none of us would have enjoyed life to its fullest, as she always insisted we do.  Arlene will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday, June 4 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, June 5 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Burial Service will take place at 1:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
