Rapid City - Barbara E. Hamblet, 65, Rapid City, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Barbara Ellen Kuborn was born December 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD to James and Inez [Winterboer] Kuborn. She grew to adulthood and attended school at Rapid City Central, graduating from high school in 1964. She then attended Southern State College. She received her Master's Degree from South Dakota State University. She married Tracy E. Hamblet Jr. on December 24, 1965 in Rapid City, SD. Barbara enjoyed golf and skiing. She loved animals, especially her cats, and enjoyed reading, cooking and watercolor painting. She was a fine English teacher at West Middle School for nearly 20 years. Survivors include her son: JR [LaNae] Hamblet of Rapid City; daughter: Brooke Hamblet of Ft. Worth, TX; three grandchildren: MaRin Hamblet, Freddy Hinkle and Gray Hinkle; her mother: Inez Kuborn of Rapid City and her sister: Dianne [Steve] Warren of Aberdeen. She was preceded in death by her father: James Kuborn. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 30 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Inurnment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of the Black Hills, the Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities, or Mission Possible Fort Worth Outreach Yoga-Pine Street Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center.
