Rapid City - Barbara Ann Pasqualucci, age 70, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away in Rapid City on July 3, 2012, after an extended but brave struggle with her health. A long time Rapid City resident, Barbara lived a glorious life while her health remained with her. Barbara was born in DeSmet, South Dakota on August 30, 1941, to Dorothy and Herman Blote Sr. Growing up in and around the family store, Barbara eventually moved to Rapid City with her family and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1959. Shortly thereafter, she met and married her first love Robert "Nick" Nixon. The tumultuous marriage lasted but 3 years, but resulted in the birth of her son, Robert. In 1965, Barbara married John Pasqualucci who was serving in the Armed Forces at Ellsworth Air Force Base. A daughter Kelly was born to this union. Residing mainly in Rapid City, the family lived for short periods in both New London, Connecticut, and Redmond, Oregon. Barbara and John divorced in 1983, but remained close until his passing in 2001. Throughout her life Barbara worked a variety of positions to include a long period of employment as a medical secretary at Internal Medicine Group, then Williams Surgical Clinic and Dr. David Sabow. Barbara enjoyed dancing, hiking in the Black Hills and spending time with her family. Family picnics were of great joy to Barbara who reveled when she could beat her brother "Sonny" at badminton and croquet. Towards the twilight of her years, Barbara met and enjoyed spending time with her companion of 16 years, her cowboy, Gene Kniffen of Sturgis. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, Robert Pasqualucci of Rapid City; Kelly Doyle (Jim) of Rapid City; her grandchildren Amber, Briana, Tyler and Megan: brother Herman Blote, Jr. (Margaret.) Barbara will be greatly missed. The family thanks all the family, friends and neighbors who helped and supported Barbara in her time of need. Special thanks to the staff of Rapid City's Hospice of the Hills, Dr. Steven Stocks and his nurse Sylvia, and Dr. Samuel Durr. A special thanks to Shelia, the nurse with Bob & Kelly when Barbara took her last few breaths. A memorial service honoring Barbara's life will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, at 12:00 noon in Rapid City.
