Bart B. ‘Bubba’ Boos

Bart “Bubba” Boos, 78, passed away on August 7, 2026, following a short battle with cancer. He was born on November 22, 1947, in Fulda, Minnesota, to Bart Boos Sr. and Lorraine Boos.

Bart was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his children, Tara King (Tyler), Joshua Boos, and his brother, Mike “Mikey” Boos of Rapid City.

Family was central to Bart’s life. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor Boos and his wife, Mackenzie; Marisa King; Connor King; and Megan King. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Maverick Mason and Skye Lorraine, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Bart had a lifelong love of all sports, especially baseball. He set a bucket-list goal to visit every Major League Baseball stadium and came close, missing only eight. All of those trips were shared with his grandchildren and became life long family memories.

In his younger years, Bart enjoyed staying active and social. He played pool and golf, always bringing a competitive edge, and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, classic cars, and gambling for fun, valuing the excitement and time spent with others.

For 13 years, Bart drove the bus for Post 22, covering many miles and creating countless memories. He often joked about the miles driven and the surprisingly few bruises on the buses. Whenever he traveled in the state he loved to play the mile marker game. He could tell you exactly where you were at if you told him what mile marker you were on. His humor and easygoing nature made him a favorite among those he worked with.

Bart will be remembered for his love of sports, his humor, his adventurous spirit, and above all, his love for his family. Whether at a ballgame, on the road to another stadium, spending time with his Post 22 family, or simply with loved ones, he made the most of every moment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bart Boos Sr. and Lorraine Boos; Helen (Hill) Boos; and his grandson, Mason Boos.

A funeral service celebrating Bart’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 22, 2026, at Dave Ploof Field at Black Hills Surgical Hospital Ballpark, The "Fitz". Please wear your favorite baseball attire to the baseball-themed service honoring one of his greatest passions. Any current or past Post 22 players/coaches please wear your Hardhat if you still have it. 

Bart “Bubba” will be deeply missed by his children, brother, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. His stories, laughter, and love of life will live on in all who knew him.

So, as Bart would have wanted, we tip our caps, remember the good times, and send him off to his final ballpark.
