Benjamin Merculief, Jr. 89, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Monument Health Hospital.

He was born on August 19, 1931 in St George Island, Alaska to Benjamin and Anna (Prokopioff) Merculief.

Benjamin grew up in St George Island moving to Rapid City with his wife, Feona in 2003. They were married on St George Island, Alaska on June 6, 1956.

Benjamin is survived by his children; Dean of Fairbanks, Alaska, James of Rapid City, Lori Merculief, Rapid City, Anita Vogt of Chugiak, Alaska, Bernice Woodle of Rapid City and Dolores Davis of Spearfish, five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a brother, Anthony Merculief, St George Island, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Feona in 2012 and two brothers.

A visitation will be offered from 9:00am until the funeral service at 10:00am, Monday, October 5 at the St John The Theologian Orthodox Church at 602 Flormann St. in Rapid City.

Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors at 12:00pm.

A memorial has been established by the family.
