RAPID CITY | Bernard Joseph "Bud" Kraus Jr., 77, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in Rapid City as a result of a vehicle pedestrian accident.

Bud was born April 9,1939, in Brooklyn, NY, to Bernard and Mary Kraus. When he was 15, his parents passed and Bud was raised by his brother, Robert, and his wife, Dottie. He graduated from high school and entered the United States Navy.

After more than 22 years, Bud honorably retired from the U.S.Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He married Sharon Bundy on May 24, 1985 in Scottsdale, AZ. A confirmed bachelor, Bud wholeheartedly embraced family life with Sharon's two daughters, Tamy and Deborah

He enjoyed gardening in 120-degree  Scottsdale heat or up to his knees in SD snow. His love for flowers was surpassed only by the tremendous care he took with his wife and her failing memory. Bud will be remembered as a very charitable and generous husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, Rapid City; two daughters, Deborah Todd (Gale Grinager), Rapid City, and Tamara Glazener (Elmer), Las Vegas, NV; his three grandchildren, Natasha Nichole Glazener, Ph. D. Candidate (Andrew Piegzik), Los Alamos, NM, Travis Clifton Glazener and Christopher Ryan Glazener, Las Vegas; his niece, Kerry Ann Taylor, Cleveland,OH; and his nephews, James Steven Kraus,Houston, TX, and John Robert Kraus, Portland, OR.

Friends may gather at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, for a time of sharing prior to leaving at 10:45 a.m. for the 11:30 graveside service with military honors at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
