Obituary

Betty Jane (Hall) Bittner, 85 years, of Summerset, S.D., Philadelphia, PA. and Tuckerton, N.J. passed away on Sept. 17th, 2024.

Betty was born in Philadelphia, PA. on April 7th, 1939 to Robert Roy Hall and Elizabeth (Sanders) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Roy Hall, and her husband of 55yrs, William Thomas (Bill) Bittner. She is survived by her sons: William Thomas Bittner, Joseph Robert Bittner, grandsons Christopher Bittner, Kellan Bittner, Brendan Bittner, and her great-granddaughter Odessa Bittner.

In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling, playing cards and volunteering at her two son's grade school. In the summers, she enjoyed spending time at the lake in Tuckerton, while also fishing in the bay for Flounder with her husband. Later in life, she enjoyed going to classic car shows with the numerous classic cars she and Bill owned. She and Bill also travelled around the U.S. in their RV, spending time each summer with their grandchildren in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was these summer visits which convinced them to move to the Black Hills to be nearer to their grandchildren. They moved first to Black Hawk, and then to Summerset.

While living in the Black Hills, she continued to collect and show classic cars. She also volunteered at the Piedmont Community Center, the Piedmont Library and Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont. She was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, but enjoyed watching all football games, Nascar and having a cold beer every night.

Throughout her life, what she loved the most was spending time with her family: her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews. All of who she dearly loved!

She will be truly missed!

There will be a family only private Burial Service at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
