Betty Ann Coldwell, 87, of Rapid City, died Tuesday April 2, at Clarkson Health Care with her family by her side. She was born January 30,1927 in Sioux Falls, SD to Ernest and Myrtle Rohl. She grew up in a rural setting along with her brother Bob, whom she adored, and kept in contact with her entire life. After graduation from high school she boarded the train to Rapid City to work for Western Stationers. On August 1st, 1947, she married the love of her life Ramon (Ray) Coldwell, and to this union three wonderful children were born. She enjoyed bowling, picnics, riding in the hills and spending time with her family. Ray and Betty traveled extensively and winters were spent in southern Texas. Throughout their lives together they never tired of dancing. Beginning with square dancing, they later enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Canyon Lake Club, Elks Club or the Esquire, dancing the night away. Betty is survived by her children, Pam, Ramon (Renee) and Steve (Timur) all of Rapid City. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as two special nieces, Bev Rohl and Stephanie (Chuck) Kirchmeier. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and his wife Peg Rohl, a nephew, Michael Rohl and a granddaughter, Rachael. Visitation will be Sunday April 6 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m., with family present. The celebration of her life will be at Open Bible Christian Center on Monday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. A most gracious lady & the most precious mother, Betty will be forever missed and loved. Memorials can be sent to donor's choice.
