Obituary

RAPID CITY--Betty J. Gluyas, 74, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Betty was born on December 5, 1933, in Deadwood, to Floyd V. and Beatrice (Droddy) Collins. She lived most of her life in the Black Hills area, including Silver City, Nemo, and the Doty area. Betty also lived for 5 years in Santa Rosa, CA during World War II. Betty married Albert E. "Cub" Gluyas on March 20, 1952. She enjoyed the countryside, watching all wild animals, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, long walks in the country, rides in the HIll, visiting friends and relatives and her home in the country. She also loved to garden and grow flowers. All of my neighbors, friends and cousins have been there when I needed them. Bless them all! Survivors include her three daughters, Sandra Wheeler and her husband Doug, Piedmont, Dori Lewis and her husband Therond, Waldorf, MD and Debra Richardson and her husband John, Pensacola, FL; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many cousins and close friends. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Dan Juelfs presiding. Burial will follow in Nemo Cemetery.
