IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverley "Nuri"
Neter Brown Jr
August 5, 1935 – November 20, 2021
Beverley (Nuri) Brown of Rapid City, S.D. passed away peacefully on November 20 th , 2021, at the age of eighty-six after a lengthy battle with cancer. He spent his last day at his daughter Geneva's home where she and her husband Joseph cared for him. He would also talk to many members of his family every day sharing memories and love.
Beverley was born on August 5 th , 1935, in Charles City County, V.A. to Beverley Brown Sr. and Geneva (Charity) Brown.
He was a well-loved man, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was multi-talented and enjoyed camping, fishing, working in his garden where he grew flowers, vegetables and even trees. He also enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team the Dodgers play.
Beverley was quickly nicknamed BB after entering the Air Force and relocating to South Dakota when he married for the first time, legally adopting sons Alan("Chico" McNeil) and Ronald (His Horse is Thunder) prior to the births of Garry and Jacqueline. The young family moved to Standing Rock Reservation where BB worked road construction. While living there, the avid fisherman once caught enough fish, in one day, to feed the entire community. To this day, his Lakota family refer to him as uncle, cousin, and grandpa BB.
During his years in Rapid City, Beverley became well known for his amazing work ethic. His love and dedication to racing and his amazing ability to work on any car led him to open his own shop in the Westside of Rapid. He had the impressive ability to change out a Volkswagen transmission and clutch within half an hour and to use his immense strength to pull out the engine bare handedly. This and his dedication to his customers led them to learn who Mr. Brown was as a man. From there he served the community by joining the South Dakota Cement Plant and began his journey assisting in the building of the wonderful community called Rapid City. He stayed with the cement plant until his retirement.
During the Rapid City flood in 1972 he helped several people by putting tents in his front yard for them to stay. He also helped get a mother and her two children out of their home and to safety.
Beverly married Sally Muller on January 6 th , 1978. During their 43 years together they had one daughter, Geneva and raised 4 beautiful children. They loved going camping and fishing as a family.
