Beverly M. Madsen, 80, Rapid City, died at a Rapid City nursing home on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Beverly M. Jones was born on January 6, 1928, at Artesian, SD, the daughter of C. K. and Mabel (Songer) Jones. She grew up at Artesian and graduated from Artesian High School in 1946. Beverly married Melvin K. Madsen on June 14, 1946 at Woonsocket, SD. They lived on a farm in the Artesian area until moving to Rapid City in 1957. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was an active supporter of Little League Baseball programs as she raised her three sons. Survivors include her husband, Melvin K. Madsen, Rapid City; three sons, Dennis Madsen and his wife Patti, Gainsville, Georgia, Darcy Madsen, Rapid City and Darrell Madsen, Rapid City; a sister, DeVonna Simonsen, Chamberlain, SD; seven grandchildren, Ward Hilger, Justin Madsen, Jessica Madsen, Michelle Kline and her husband Ron, Angel Pope, Tony Madsen and Stephanie Franck and five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Gage and Griffin Kline and Tobia and Hezekhia Franck. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Wesley Jones and a daughter, Melva Jean Madsen in infancy. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM on Monday, April 7, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 8, at Faith Lutheran Church, 17 Indiana St. with Pastor Bruce Baum officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. A lunch will follow the burial at the church. A memorial has been established for Hospice of the Hills.
