Bjorg 'Bea'
McMeekin
June 15, 1939 – May 12, 2026
RAPID CITY – Bjorg “Bea” McMeekin, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Monument Health in Rapid City.
Bea was born on June 15, 1939, in Stavanger, Norway to Clifford and Olga (Pollestad) Warwick. At the age of eight, she moved to the United States with her parents. She attended a one-room country school and, through her love of learning and heritage, taught herself to become fluent in Norwegian and English.
Bea married William T. McMeekin, Jr. on June 10, 1962. Together they were blessed with four children: Cliff, Paul, Rhonda, and Maikin.
Bea was a devoted wife and mother who raised her children with love, honesty, strong values, and high expectations. She encouraged each of them to be the very best they could be and supported them unconditionally throughout their lives. Her family always knew they were deeply loved.
Proud of her Norwegian heritage, Bea enjoyed preparing traditional Norwegian dishes and sharing those traditions with family. She was an avid reader, a talented painter, and someone who found joy in creativity and lifelong learning.
Bea was a member of South Canyon Lutheran Church. She also gave generously of her time through volunteer work with the Church, Monument Health Hospital Auxiliary gift shop and at Stavekirk gift shop at Chapel in the Hills. Bea was always thinking of others and often purchased thoughtful items simply because she believed someone else could use or enjoy them. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Cliff and Olga; and her brother, John Staurland.
Bea is survived by her children: Cliff (Mary) McMeekin of Sturgis, Paul McMeekin of Rapid City, Rhonda (Jeffrey) Domingue of Sioux Falls, and Maikin (Joe) Farrington of Burnsville; eight grandchildren: Anna, Willie, Tom, Brad, Katt, Aleck, Kayla, and Emma; two great-grandchildren; her brother, Per (Bjorg) Staurland; and two nieces.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery, where Bea will be laid to rest beside her husband. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:45 a.m.
