Bonita "Bonnie" Joy (Moser) Spiry, 87, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2022 at home in Nampa, Idaho, with family by her side.

One of four children, Bonnie was born to Reinhold and Doris Moser on December 9, 1934, in Walworth County just outside of Java, South Dakota. Born in a sod house during a severe South Dakota blizzard, she did not have a birth certificate until decades later. Bonnie spent her simple childhood years learning the art of balancing farmhand grit and tenacity with equal parts of grace and sparkle. The latter especially shone during her senior year attending Java High School when she became Java's candidate competing for the title of pageant "Snow Queen" at Aberdeen, South Dakota on January 12, 1952.

Bonnie married Wallace Spiry, also from Java, on October 18, 1953. The family eventually settled in Rapid City, South Dakota where they raised 3 beautiful children. Bonnie took motherhood very seriously and she demonstrated love, gentleness, and the gift of time to those closest to her. Whether she was nursing a baby bird to health, enjoying a family drive through the Black Hills, singing at church, or preparing her favorite potluck dish, the people around her were in awe of her sweet spirit and equally enjoyed her feisty sense of humor. She fostered meaningful and lifelong relationships with her friends from TOPS club as well as her McDonald's coffee pals, many of whom she had known since childhood.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Steven, on July 24, 2019. She is survived by her husband Wallace (Wally) "Spink" Spiry, her children Daniel Spiry (Jodi Spiry) and Vickie Sandvik (Chuck Sandvik), as well as 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be for both Bonita and Wally at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.  Burial to follow at Mt View Cemetery.
