Obituary

Rapid City - Boyce Earl Asheim, 85, Rapid City died Friday, March 19, 2010 at a local nursing home. Boyce Earl Asheim was born April 19, 1924 in his grandfathers ranch house near Elm Springs, SD to Oscar Earl and Golda Violet [Moorhead] Asheim. He attended Pierce Grade School at Elm Springs and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1943. Boyce then joined the United States Navy in November of 1943 and served our country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946. Boyce obtained his Associates Degree in Business in 1946 upon returning from the war. He married Vena E. Walthall on November 6, 1946. He worked in the Rapid City area at Black Hills Power, West River Equipment, Summit Construction, Inc., M & M Fencing, and Kulesza & Sons. Survivors include his wife, Vena E. Asheim, Rapid City, 1 daughter, Ruth Spenny and her husband Arlen of Encampment, WY and their children, Michelle Boetticher, Nikole Winn, Aaron Spenny, and Mathew Spenny, 2 sons, Kenneth E. Asheim and his wife Shirley of Rapid City and their children, Denice Akers and Deann Mohlman, and Rich Asheim and his wife Lanette of Katy, TX and their children, Magara Asheim and Colton Asheim, and 2 brothers, Waldemar Asheim, Hermosa and Dwain Asheim, Sturgis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Robert and Harold Asheim and one granddaughter: Stephanie Asheim Young. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, March 22 at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, March 23 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1012 Soo San Drive with Rev. Bob Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with Military Honors conducted by the Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and the South Dakota National Guard.
