Bruce Russell Douglas 73 of Hill City passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

He was born May 11, 1950 in Wilmington, Delaware to James & Polly (Bradley) Douglas.  He attended St. Helene's Elementary School, Salesianum High School graduating in 1968, and Pembroke State University graduating in 1972. After college he went to work for the State of North Carolina. In 1978 he was married to Pegie Quinn Douglas, to this union they had one son, James Douglas. In 1980 he received his Master's Degree from East Carolina University.  After 28 years he retired and began working in the public school system from 2001-2006. Together he had 33 years of state employment.

He enjoyed volunteering at Ft. Macon State Park at Atlantic Beach, NC and drove the Beaufort Historic Association Double Decker London Bus, walking on the beach, and living in Morehead City, NC. Bruce and Pegie moved to Hill City, SD in 2019. Bruce was in declining health from Alzheimer's for many years.

He is survived by his wife Pegie of Hill City.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son, James Felty Douglas; his parents, Jim and Polly Douglas; his sister, Marlene Orlowsky; his brother, Buddy Getchel.
