Obituary

Bruce A. Skyberg, 71, of Rapid City, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 near Lead, South Dakota.  Bruce was born to Boyd and Ruth (Schanink) Skyberg on August 17, 1951 in Madison, South Dakota. The family moved to Rapid City in 1958. Bruce graduated from Stevens High School in 1970. He joined the United States Navy and served from 1970 until 1974, serving as a dermatology technician and attended junior college. He returned to Rapid City and worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad from 1978 until 1987. He married his wife Beverley in 1987, which came to dissolution one decade later.  Bruce worked for Pennington County housing from 1987 until 2012 when he retired. He was a great primary caregiver to his dad, Boyd, with some help from his sister Starr and his niece Angela. Bruce loved hunting, fishing, time spent with family and riding his Harley. Bruce was raised in the Baptist Church and was at peace with God. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth and his father Boyd.  He is survived by his son Chadrick and his wife Rachael, grandchildren Sebastian, Allison, and Benjamin, sister Starr, and niece Angela and her husband, Dennis. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Black Hills National Cemetery.  Friends may gather at 9:30am at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home to proceed to the cemetery. A memorial will be established.
