MINNEAPOLIS, MN--Carissa Lynn Vice, 22, of Rapid City, passed away at University of Medical Center-Fairview in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Carissa was born on December 19, 1986, in Rapid City to Charles L. and Glenda L. (Strampher) Vice. She grew up in Rapid City and attended South Canyon Grade School, West Middle School and Stevens High School, where she graduated in 2005. She was active in orchestra during her school years and was honored by being selected for All-State Orchestra. Carissa then went on the attend SDSU in Brookings, where she graduated this Spring with a B. S. in Pharmaceutical Studies. She was currently working as a Pharmacy Intern at Hy Vee Pharmacy in Sioux Falls. Carissa had recently taken a trip to China with a medical expedition of Key Honor Society Members from SDSU to learn about Chinese medicine and culture. She was full of love and enjoyed animals, especially cats. Carissa also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. Survivors include her parents, Charles and Glenda Vice, Rapid City; her brother, Logan Vice and his wife Melissa, Minneapolis and her maternal grandparents, Irene Strampher, Lodgepole, SD and Clayton Strampher, Sacramento, CA and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wayne and Vera Vice. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, at Calvary Lutheran Church (5311 Sheridan Lake Rd.) with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating. A memorial has been established.
