Carolyn Jean Dirks Hauger, Shakopee, MN, age 73, passed away on August 30, 2023 due to complications brought on by her ongoing battle with diabetes.

Carolyn's life began in Vermillion, South Dakota on October 7, 1950, and because of her father's schooling and employment, she spent time growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, St. Paul Minnesota, and to Brandon, South Dakota.  She graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 1968.  From there, she went on to the University of South Dakota where she earned a BA in Health and Physical Education.  Upon graduation she briefly attended South Dakota State University pursuing a master's degree.

Carolyn was a devoted mother to her daughter Angela and son Benjamin, and grandmother to grandsons Logan and Connor, and triplet granddaughters Paige, Maddie, and Kayla.  She was so proud of her kids, and her family and friends will hold dear the stories we will be privileged to tell them one day of their funny, loving mother. Her children and grandchildren gave her abundant smiles, laughter, as well as great strength during the difficult times towards the end of her life.  She enjoyed life, was quick with a beautiful smile, an avid reader, and an absolute master at crossword puzzles.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Angela (Rob) Hillman, Shakopee, MN and Benjamin, Detroit, MI, and grandchildren Logan, Connor, Paige, Maddie, and Kayla, all of Shakopee, MN.  Sisters, Renee (Terry) Carsrud, Boise, ID, Denise (Greg) Palmer, Rapid City, SD, and brother Douglas, Scottsdale, AZ., and numerous nephews and nieces

Carolyn was proceeded in death by her parents Warren and Nadine Dirks.

A private celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on May 27, 2024 in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where she found great joy during her time in the Rapid City, SD area.
