Carolyn "Jeanne" Laurence, 77, of Rapid City, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Monument Health – Home+ Hospice House.

Jeanne was born October 28, 1947 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Hugh and Mildred (Truba) Laurence.  As a young lady, she and her family moved to the Black Hills and spent time in Newcastle, Custer and ultimately settled in Rapid City.  Jeanne graduated from Custer High School in 1965.  She spent much of her career working for Rapid City Public Schools serving at Stevens High School and working for the district Technology Department.  Jeanne enjoyed sharing her knowledge of technology and computers with others.

In her personal time, she was a devoted grandmother and always made it a point to be present in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.  Jeanne also enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, painting, writing poetry, and playing games and puzzles with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Billie Short (Marty) and Cyndi Fisher (Cory), her ten grandchildren; Jeri Short, Casey Short (Dakota), Kelly Short (Canyon), Daryn Short (Hannah), Breyanna Fuhrmann, Caleb Terwilliger (Jackie), Anton Fisher, Izabel Fisher (Chet), Ezra Fisher and Damien Fisher, great-grandchildren: Bransen Gerney, Gracie Gerney, Delaynie Gerney, Arlo Fuhrmann, Hayes Fuhrmann, Indi Fuhrmann, Fiona Terwilliger, Annika Terwilliger and Sebasitan Terwilliger.  Jeanne also leaves behind her brother, Michael Laurence as well as other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eric John Laurence and her niece, Kristy Laurence.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
