Obituary

PIEDMONT | Carolyn "Jody" Tagart, who lived a long and fulfilling life, left us on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, to join her husband, James A. Tagart Sr. in eternal life. She was also greeted by her sons, David Tagart and Robert Tagart; her mother Nellie Moore; father, Howard Moore; a brother, Richard Moore; grandsons, Kenny Grant and Jayson Barley and a great-grandson, Parker Grant. She was loved by many, including her four children, James A. (Jennifer) Tagart Jr., of Sundance, WY, Howard (Marilyn) Tagart, of Alliance, NE, Kathy Tagart, of Whitewood, and Della (Ivan Rick') Hammond, of Piedmont; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy (Doug) Lick and Evie (Tom) Henrie, both of Rapid City; a sister-in-law, Virginia Moore, Rapid City; her beloved cat, Key; and anyone else that ever happened to end up on her doorstep. With 33 years as a military wife, and having traveled the country and many parts of the world, many stray children ended up becoming adopted "family." She was more than willing to accept anyone who showed up that needed help. Over the years she made sure that young airmen or anyone who wanted it, had a place to celebrate the holiday or just the day. It didn't take long to become part of the Tagart Family. She always said, "The first time you come to my house, I will wait on you, the next time you are on your own." She loved to go camping, fishing and traveling; but most of all, she loved to be with children. Because of her loving nature, she was Mom to more than just her children, Grandma to more than just her grandchildren and a shoulder to more than just her family. The world has lost a great person and we will all miss her loving, caring, giving spirit. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Herb Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Memorials may be directed to Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House, 224 Elk St., Rapid City, SD 57701.
