Rapid City Catherine A. Wilcox, 90, Rapid City died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Catherine Amelia Livermont was born March 24, 1921 at Timberlake, South Dakota to Henry Alexander and Christine Edna [Traversie] Livermont. She attended school at the Cheyenne River Boarding School for grade school and attended and graduated from Timberlake High School. She married Floyd W. Shortie Wilcox, Sr. on August 17, 1942 at Dupree, SD. The family lived in several area South Dakota communities and also in North Dakota and Wyoming while Floyd was involved in road construction. In 1958 they moved to Rapid City where they resided. Floyd died in 2001. Catherine was an accomplished seamstress in Rapid City for many years. Catherine loved to crochet. She also liked to sing and play the guitar. Catherine was also a member of the Women of the Moose. Survivors include three sons: Ronald [Ella] Wilcox and Leslie Wilcox of Rapid City, Floyd J.R. Wilcox JR. of Box Elder; five daughters; Jacqueline Hoffman of Gering, NE, Rochelle Rockie [Michael] Oakland of Pierre, Cheryle Holvig and Gloria [Gary] Brown of Rapid City, Patricia [Don] Phillips of Mission, Texas; 53 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ramona Crawley of Roseville, CA. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband: Floyd W. Shortie Wilcox, SR on December 29, 2001, parents, several brothers and sisters, two grandsons: Eric Matthew Brown and Hayden St. Pierre. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Friday, December 9 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard with funeral service at 2 pm, Saturday, December 10 at the funeral home with Rev. Father Tyler Dennis as celebrant. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Rapid City. A Memorial has been established for crippled children.
