Cecilia Ahleen Moriarty Osloond of Idaho Falls passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008. Ahleen was born to Clarence A. and Cecilia Thurston on October 18, 1922 in Sheridan, Wyoming. As a child, she lived on a ranch near Sundance, Wyoming where she rode her horse to the one room school she attended. In 1937 the family moved to Belle Fourche, South Dakota where she thrived in the community, attended high school, and joined the famous Belle Fourche Cowboy Band, with whom she continued to play over a 67 year time period. In 1942, Ahleen married Kenneth J. Moriarty. After WWII, they moved to Rapid City and Lead, South Dakota. They relocated to Idaho Falls in 1951. Kenneth passed away in 1980. In 1994, Ahleen married Joseph H. Osloond. They resided in Idaho Falls and traveled to Arizona for the winter months. Ahleen was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she had been the church secretary and was active in many projects. Ahleen was always known for her caring ways and love of her family. She enjoyed many things, but nothing was more important to her than being a mother and a grandmother. Ahleen was loved by many. She always had a smile on her face and a laugh that was priceless. She taught us the true meaning of family and was an inspiration to us all. Her ability to light up the darkest of rooms is proof that angels are among us. She will truly be missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Ahleen is survived by her husband, Joe, daughter, Mary Catherine Smith (Ren) of Idaho Falls, and four sons, Thomas Moriarty (Katherine) of Idaho Falls, Michael Moriarty (Theresa) of Boise, Idaho, Dan Moriarty (Abbie) of Chico, California, Kevin Moriarty (Michele) of Boise, Idaho, one brother, Jeff Thurston of Sun Lakes, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. She has twelve grandchildren and nine great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, sister and late husband. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2008, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 145 9th Street in Idaho Falls, with Father Carlos Camargo, celebrant.
