RAPID CITY- Cecil Marvin Jenkins, 83, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Cecil was born January 23, 1940, in Rock Hill, South Carolina to Roby and Shirley (Stewart) Jenkins. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base where he met Ruth Oyler. Cecil married Ruth in 1961 and to this union Deborah, Lisa and John were born. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Cecil worked for West River Electric for 32 years until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Cecil loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Archery Club. Cecil loved baseball and football. He also loved to grill and bake.
Cecil will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Most of all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Colleen and Dorothy; and brothers Lewis and Ronald.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 62 years, Rapid City; daughters: Deborah Jenkins (Jerry), Colorado; Lisa (Terry) Wachendorf, Arizona; son, John Jenkins, Rapid City; grandchildren: Marcus Jeffords, Brianna Jenkins (Jimmy), Michael (Amber) Johnson, Sarra (Abd) Zaatreh; eight great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Frances Vernon and Dianne Jenkins, both of North Carolina; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Full military honors will be rendered by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1273 Honor Guard. A procession will leave from Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home (2700 Jackson Blvd) at 12:30 p.m.
