Obituary

RAPID CITY | Charlene Mary Doolittle, 71, passed away June 13, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 25, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA, as the first daughter of Boyd and Mary Elsie Thybo. She spent her childhood between the family ranch in Harding County and schooling in Rapid City where she graduated in 1961. She attended BHSC and USD where she received her teaching degree in 1965. She married in '65 and had two children, Charles James ('67) and Leslie Charlene ('70). While raising her children she earned a masters and reading specialist degree from BHSC. Her passion to teach spanned three states for the next 40 years. After retirement she continued to substitute until January 2014 but spent most of her free time attending her grandchildren's events. Charlene was admired and respected by those she taught and taught with. She was the inspiration and strength for her family. She is missed. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Sylvia and Andrew Thybo, and Jessie and George Allen. She is survived by her son, Charles, daughter Leslie (Kevin) Morris, three beloved grandsons, CAS, Dillon, and Cooper, three "bonus" grandchildren, and three loving sisters and their families, Jeanine (Ed) Bisetti of Albuquerque, NM, Maxine (Dan) Oehler of Bullhead City, AZ, and Corinne (Victor) Weyrich of Glendale, AZ. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, with Gail Fremont of Bozeman, MT, officiating. Visitation with family and friends is welcomed one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
