RAPID CITY-Charles (Chuck) Eugene Lewis was born on December 26, 1930 in Kadoka, SD. He was the 6th of 7 children born to William George and Esther Mabel Mowry Lewis. His family soon moved to Rapid City where he attended school and received his GED. At age 18, Chuck married his sweetheart, Eva May Kruse on October 15, 1949. He became a Christian at age 34, and was baptized at Steamboat Rock. They raised their four sons and one daughter in the Christian faith. Chuck worked for the Rapid City Street Dept and later in Civil Service as a heavy equipment operator at EAFB. Through the years, he enjoyed the company of his loving, faithful wife, Eva. They were known for their daily Wal-Mart trips and once-a-week dates. Chuck went to be with the Lord on Friday December 3, 2010, just short of his 80th birthday, after a short battle of cancer. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eva; two sons, Michael (Elaine) Lewis, Sioux Falls, SD; John Lewis, Summerfield, FL (Jan Lewis, Rapid City, SD) and one daughter, Tammie (Dan) Clevenger, Papillion, NE. He also is survived by one sister, Rose Juhl, Rapid City, SD; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and Larry Lewis, and one granddaughter. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Bethel Assembly of God with Rev. Peter Dahlberg officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Charles' family.
