Obituary

RAPID CITY--Charles S. Stido, 80, of Rapid City died at his home June 13th, 2009 with his family at his side. Charles was born in Gettysburg on February 10 1929, to Bernice (Smith) Stido and Steven Stido. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Rapid City in 1933, where he attended school. He was united in marriage on July 1 1950, to Darlene Comer. Together they had four girls, Sherri, Debbie, Pam and Kim. When he and Darlene were first married, Chuck worked for Roush Transfer, D&W Dump Crane Service, and for the last 27 years he worked for the City of Rapid City Parks Dept. as the caretaker of Canyon Lake Park before retiring in 1988 due to his ill health. Chuck loved to travel, camp, fish, and work in his garden and flowers. He truly was a jack of all trades. He loved to have his grandkids and great grandkids come to visit, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Chuck enjoyed having his friends stop by for coffee and cookies, and just to visit. He was a member of Rapid City Eagles Lodge. He will be missed greatly and will be thought of forever. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, daughters; Sherri Beaver and her husband, Tony of Salisbury, NC, Debbie Allen and her husband, Ralph, of Black Hawk, Pam Lowe and her husband, Doug, of Black Hawk and Kim Eisenbraun of Sturgis. Chuck was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Thurn of Grants Pass, Ore. and a niece, Laurie Buker, also of Grants Pass. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 17 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Jacobs, Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
