IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charyl Lynn
Fields
June 10, 1951 – December 29, 2020
Charyl Fields, 69, of Rapid City, passed away at home on December 29, 2020, with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side.
Charyl was born to the late Bert and Barbara (Thompson) Regan on June 10, 1951 in Mitchell, SD. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969 and went on to attend St. John's McNamara School of Nursing. Charyl was an incredible Registered Nurse who started her career at St. John's McNamara Hospital. She transitioned to Rapid City Regional Hospital where she worked as a nurse coordinator. Charyl left the hospital to work in public health and later spent some time nursing with the Black Hills Workshop. She eventually finished out her career as a school nurse for the Rapid City Public Schools.
Charyl was an exceptional nurse that loved caring and nurturing others. She was a teacher, a colleague, and friend to all with whom she worked. Her work ethic was of the highest quality. As a "teacher" she taught others about being honest, respectful, and caring. This teaching was done with a sense of humor and encouragement that made children want to learn and gave others a different perspective. When she found something she truly believed in she was very passionate about accomplishing it. She approached her work and care of her family with compassion and dedication.
Charyl married James Fields in 1972 and they lived together in Rapid City, SD for 28 years before spending a few short years in Parkston, SD to be closer to her mom and eventually moved back to Rapid City in 2006.
Charyl was devoted entirely to her family. Her time was spent encouraging and supporting her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved planting flowers, travelling to see her children and grandchildren, baking and trying new recipes, drinking coffee and spending time with people. Charyl's love for people extended to all areas of her life. She was passionate about helping and supporting veterans in her community. She touched so many lives and was an example of grace and love.
Charyl is survived by her husband, James and their four children; James (Willma) of Moscow, Idaho, Torie Fields of Rapid City, Daniel (Jamie) Fields of Rapid City, and Erin (Donovan) Delude of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; eight grandchildren; one brother (Michael Regan), five nephews, and one niece. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister.
