Cheryl
Lindholm
December 19, 1937 – February 3, 2025
RAPID CITY – Cheryl Rae (Duncanson) Lindholm, 87, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at Westhills Village.
Cheryl was born on December 19, 1937, to Raymond and Cora (Eitemiller) Duncanson in Wagner, SD. After graduating from Wagner High School, she attended Dakota Wesleyan University where she received her teaching degree. She taught at various schools in Mitchell, SD, Omaha, NE, and Rapid City, ending her career at Knollwood Elementary in Rapid City.
She married Elmer August Lindholm on December 27, 1963, in Wagner, SD. The couple lived in Rapid City, where she taught, and Elmer worked for the Rapid City Journal. Rapid City is also where they raised their two sons.
Cheryl was an active member of her church community, volunteering for many church groups and events. She loved reading and music. She was an avid singer, participating in numerous choirs and groups throughout her life. In addition to singing, she was a member of the church bell choir for many years.
Family and friends were of great importance to her. She and Elmer traveled many miles over the years visiting family and friends, attending many of their granddaughters' dance performances, and even vacationing with her sisters and their spouses on occasion. Cheryl rarely missed a Monday Millstone breakfast with her teacher friends. And her granddaughters will fondly remember every arrival at Grandma and Grandpa's house, where her "special" lasagna and a bowl of carrots were always waiting.
She is survived by son, Bruce Lindholm, of Rapid City, SD; daughter-in-law Tia (James) Lindholm of Longmont, CO; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Lindholm of Orlando, FL and Hannah (Steven) Hanff of Angleton, TX; and three sisters Marlis Davisof Appleton, WI, Gail Johannsen-Bridge of Wagner, SD and Vicki (Kay) Cool of Payson, AZ.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffrey, and husband Elmer.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Westhills Village for their friendship and care over the last ten years.
