Cheryl A. Schalde, age 63 of Canistota, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Canistota Good Samaritan Home. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City on Thursday, October 15 followed by a graveside service at 2:30 pm at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. Cheryl A, Lemcke, daughter of Christian and Julia (Ward) Lemcke was born November 10, 1945 in Pierre, SD. She grew up in Pierre and graduated from Pierre High School. She then went on to nursing school at St. John's Nursing School in Huron, SD and became an RN. She served in the US Navy from 1970 to 1974 as an RN. She married John A. Schalde in 1974. They lived in the Philippine Islands, then moved to Denver and Vermillion, SD. During her lifetime she enjoyed doing craft work and watching her son play sports. She also enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her son, John and wife Danae, Sioux Falls; a granddaughter, Arabella; and two sisters, Lorraine (Elmer) Koehn, Mesa AZ and Jan Spilde, Aurora, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James, Delaine, and Norlin Lemcke.
