Obituary

RAPID CITY - Clara Graham, 98, Rapid City, died in a local nursing home, Sunday, March 4, 2012. She was born on Dec. 27, 1913, at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Anton and Bertha (Petersen) Dahlstedt. She attended high school and Business College in Canada. Clara came to the United States in 1934 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1942. She married LeRoy Graham in 1940 in Canada. She was associated with Black Hills Packing Co. in Rapid City from Aug. 1, 1936, until her retirement in 1978. She served as the office manager for Black Hills Packing Co. and later was chief accountant. In 1945 she was elected corporate secretary, a position she held until her retirement in 1978. She was elected to the board of directors of Black Hills Packing Co. in 1953 and served on the board until the company was sold in 1990. She was also active in the community. She served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and served on the board of the Pennington Unit of the Cancer Society. She also served on the board of directors of the Rapid City Girls Club for several years and served as a volunteer at the Rapid City Regional Hospital and the Black Hills Regional Eye Institute. She was a member of the Zonta Club and South Canyon Lutheran Church. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at South Canyon Lutheran Church with Rev. Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial has been established for South Canyon Lutheran Church.
