Clara Belle Pate (Hedges) lived 96 wonderful years and passed peacefully on January 19, 2014 in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was born July 24, 1917 to Eugene and Margie Hedges. She and Moorman Pate were married on July 11, 1936 and were together for 62 years. She was a resident of Boonville, Indiana until she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota in 2008, where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Jane Pate. Clara Belle was a graduate of Yankeetown High School and a member of Yankeetown United Methodist Church. Clara Belle loved to read books. Many of us enjoyed her baking and cooking throughout the years. We all loved her homemade pink layer birthday cakes, cookies, donuts and dumplings. She watched Wheel of Fortune faithfully and loved spending time with her family. Clara Belle was preceded in death by her husband, Moorman Pate, in l998; her parents, Eugene and Margie Hedges; her son, Larry Pate, in 2004; her brother, William Hedges; and her sister, Ethel Arnold. Clara Belle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Jane Pate; three grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson, Laurie Prpich, and Bradly Pate; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will take place on January 25, 2014 at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, Indiana from 11am to 1pm with services being held at 1pm. She will be laid to rest in Bates Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Yankeetown United Methodist Church in her memory.
