Obituary

Clara Mae Robinson, 95, Rapid City, died early Monday morning, April 27, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by many members of her family. Clara was born April 30, 1913, in Waubay South Dakota to Nettie Belle (Rhone) and John Dobson. Clara was the eldest girl in a family of nine children; she was active in the care and raising of the children on the family farm. As a young woman Clara also worked as a nanny and a piano player at the silent movies. In 1937, Clara married Harold Herman Albert Tesch, and they had three children. Clara not only raised the children, but was active in the daily activities of the family farm. In 1956, the family moved to Rapid City. Clara had a strong love and devotion to children, which she displayed not only with her own children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; but to many other children throughout the community. Clara was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in both Waubay and Rapid City, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and sang in the choir. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, and her first husband, Harold. Clara is survived by her husband, Burton Doerr Robinson whom she married in 1977; two sons, Donald (Sandy) Tesch of Thorton, Colorado and Garold (Lise) Tesch of Rapid City; a daughter, Janice Mount of St. Louis Missouri; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Walter Dobson of Salem Oregon; and two sisters Caroline Knutson, also of Salem and Cora (Marvin) Heim of Watertown. Claras family also includes three of Burtons surviving siblings, a brother Paul (Susan) Robinson of White Lake, Lillian (Stan) Culver of Flowerville, Michigan, and Ruth (Ken) Ott of Holt, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews from Claras, Harolds and Burtons family. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
