Claudette Maureen (Strand) Bailey, 77, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 3, 2024 in Rapid City.  Claudette was born June 11, 1946 in Hendricks, Minnesota to Bennet Ernest and Adelean Delores (Froiland) Strand.

As a young girl, she and her family moved to Rapid City and she graduated from Central High School, Rapid City,  in 1964. She attended Chadron State College in Nebraska.  During her career she was an entrepreneur and in Rapid City she brought us Bag Ladies, a boutique and antique mall featuring the store mascot "Blanche". Claudette was known around town as "Red".

Claudette was a faithful Christian and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.  She volunteered organizing books which was a great fit for her as she was an avid reader.   She was the type to never meet a stranger, loved nature and especially clouds, cats and dragonflies.

She is survived by her brother, Ross Strand (Cindy), her nephew Sam Strand, her great nieces and nephew, her cat Chica and many loving friends. She was beloved by many.

Claudette was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Calvary Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  A reception and time of fellowship will follow the service at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 1410 Centre Street, Rapid City, SD 57703.
